Poor book. Not even the dreadful ones should be treated like that.

And the library contacted me today about Twilight. It looks like I'll be reading a copy sooner than I thought.

All right, I finally picked up Twilight from the library. I've only read a few pages, but it seems okay so far. Even if I don't end up liking it, I can still stalk Stephenie for you guys, heh.

xD

I'm glad you're reading it. It's a great book.

This may sound strange but Twilight is wearing off on me. Oh well. It's still one of the best YA books of all time, though.

Oh. My. God.

I'm going to take you through the process of getting Twilight in Sydney. Just watch. It's painful:

Go to bookstore.
Check shelves in the hope that Twilight has magically appeared there.
Be disappointed.
Go to person at counter.
Ask to special order a book.
Tell them the name of Twilight. Tell them the author.
Have them tell you that no book turned up with that name.
Remind that how Stephenie's first name is really spelt.
Laugh with them while they joke about it.
Listen to them tell you after 15 minutes of searching that it'l be available in 3 months.
Die.
Walk out of store and try to forget about the book for 3 months.
Get a call 2 weeks later from the bookstore.
Listen to them tell you that New Moon will be coming out another 4 months after Twilight.
Try not to cry.
Thank them.
Put down phone.
Get a call 3 weeks later from the bookstore.
Listen to them telling you that you need to pay an additional $10 on top of the $25 just to get a paperback copy of Twilight.
Agree.
Get a call when 3 months is up.
Listen to the people at the booksotre tell you that New Moon isn't set to come out in Australia for another month after the set date.
Try not to cry.

Yeah. Painful.

xD. Ammy will survive. She always does.

Stephenie Meyer is Arizona's resident YA author. There's obviously others... but she's probably the major one.

Yep. I remember that when Twilight first came out there was a lot of hype about her being a local author. I have some competition, heheh.

Friend: *does a double take* WHAT?
Me: Yeah. She's published a novel and is writing another one.
Friend: Shocked Oh. My. God. THAT IS SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! BUT I AM GOING TO KILL YOU. HOW COULD YOU LET A WRITER READ SOMETHING I WROTE?
Me: O_O

Process of finding Twilight:

Mum: Lil, we are NOT going to Gloria Jeans, okay?!
Me: FINE THEN! I'll just go and sulk over here.
Mum: You're being childish, Lil.
Me: Whatever. *is moody (PMS, okay?)*

-----------10 minutes later---------------

Sister: Does anyone feel like Gloria Jeans?
Mum: Hmm. That does sound nice. Okay.
Me: WHAT? WHAT?! Oh, so we can go when KYLIE suggests it..
Mum: I feel like coffee. What do you want?
Me: *being teenager-y and sulky* Nothing. *walks away*
Mum: Fine. Where are you going?
Me: To go buy something.
Mum: You have spent enough today! DO NOT buy any more books!
Me: *smirks* Fine.
Wanders into bookshop slightly angry, destroys a display of books.
*Oh shit...*
Runs into the other bookstore
Browses shelves.
Picks up Uglies & Pretties.
Me: Hmm.. I have seen these before.. They look interesting...
Goes to buy them.
One lone book catches eye.
Picks up Twilight and reads the blurb, front page and back page.
Me: Ehh..Looks kind of lame....
*memories of mum telling me not to buy any books*
Me: But I'll buy it.
Buys all three books.

HEHEHE!

New Moon? STILL. ISN'T. IN!

I know how you feel about it wearing away. Once New Moon is out, I will be fully obsessed again. Then Eclipse.. Then Breaking Dawn.. Then Midnight Sun..

*sighs*

I wish Edward had a different name because I keep wanting to picture this guy as I read Twilight (a cookie for anyone who knows what show I'm talking about):

Awww. I suppose it isn't for everyone. And it has been so hyped up for you.. Probably a let down.

Which would suck, for you.

I hope you start enjoying it!

I think it's because I'm not usually into books where the romance is the central plot. I'm trying to like it; I just have to read it in little chunks so I don't start glazing over pages. (Oops.)

Today was a really Twilight filled day for me. It was odd.

First, I get a call from my roommate (who I made read Twilight, I believe I've mentioned her before) and she's squealing and I can't understand her and she's like "i got it in the mail today!" because she ordered her very own copy of Twilight. I just laughed.

Then later I get a voicemail. I gave a friend of mine 7 books to read when she came to visit this weekend (Uglies trilogy, a certain slant of light, and twilight and new moon) and she leaves me this message going "Oh my gosh I can't put Twilight down it's so good and I am in love with Edward. He totally beats Michael Moscovitz." Which is a huge deal between the two of us.

It was coincidental and hilarious. Now I just need to get her hooked on Scott, and I will have begun my plan to TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

I guess everyone has different opinions and all.

Poor Edward. He's lost a possible fan. I like Edward. I don't think he's boring, but then that's my view, not yours.

I feel weird for not understanding this addiction to Twilight. I actually have to force myself to continue reading it.

And I think Edward is boring.

Thanks for understanding. Some people would just lash out at me. Edward has plenty of fans anyway, heh. Who knows? I still have 200-odd pages left; my opinion could change for both the book and Edward.

And our posts totally switched. Shocked

xDDD. "Heinous acts of randomness."

And Heather, I hope you like Edward more in the portion of the book that you have yet to read. In all honesty, you probably won't, because Edward's appearances towards the end of the book become less frequent. I liked the first 12 chapters of the book best. Edward was so vibrant and cute in them.

Ooo how exciting. A potential first Jacob-lover who never loved Edward ro begin with. If this does indeed happen, according to the rules of fictional boyfriends, i think Meg wll have to share, if not give up a bigger percentage, of Jacob to you.

Twilight was...okay. The beginning and end was good, but the majority of the middle really bored me. (Unless the scene had Jacob or Charlie in it...heh.) I really liked seeing Jacob in the epilogue, but then he left and I had to endure Edward again. >.< This book didn't live up to the hype, but I think I'll read New Moon once I finish the other books in my patiently-waiting stack.

Okay, so I bought Twilight by today. First of all, I have to say, the front cover with the pale, ugly hands holding the apple is quite a stunning front cover. What I also have to say it that the epilogue (before the first chapter) was really stunning writing, and brought me into the story straight away. Twilight, it isn’t the best book I’ve ever read, and it isn’t in the top twenty even, but Stephenie is a good author, and her vivid descriptions on the dismal way Isabella sees the world is quite beautiful. It creates a harsh, lonely and beautiful setting for a story. And that’s a good thing.

And now for the character’s in the story, this is where Stephenie drops completely. The character Jacob Black, is probably the most likeable book in the story (which I’ve read 128 pages of so far), the way he’s completely care-free, his looks aren’t perfect and you can actually talk to him without feeling a phony sense behind the character makes him the best character I’ve read about so far. Another character that I reckon is easy to read about is Angela, a really sweet, timid character. The thing about Angela is that she isn’t over-talkative like the rest of the characters, and the fact that she’s so quiet actually gives her a lot of personality. Lauren is quite believable as the shallow, jealous cow. Stephenie succeeded bringing the point that Lauren is a nice, but jealous and `tries-hard-to-please` person.

Characters that Stephenie has definitely failed with are; Edward, I really don’t see what’s so attractive about him. He’s cunning, he’s mocking, sarcastic, un-gentlemanly and quite rude. And the line “so you faint when you see blood?” has got to be the lames, not funny line in the entire book. Stephenie obviously doesn’t know how to put a good joke into a book. Anyway, I don’t like any of the Cullens or Hales, I find the idea of someone being perfect in every way, well…just not attractive. It’s the flaws in the person that makes someone attractive and likeable, and this is shown through characters like Bella, Mike and Angela, whole it isn’t shown at all through Edward & co.

I really like the storyline of the story, it’s creative. It’s interesting, I like the way Bella’s life is heading, and her father is really great. Very Happy Probably one of the best characters in the book. I’m detesting Edward, I’m not liking ANY of the vampires. They’re just too perfect, and perfection is one huge flaw in itself.

i agree and disagree

i thought the cover was stunning as well
and i thought jacob = teh awesomeness
and i also thought the vampires were far too perfect
at first i got caught up in the awesomeness like everyone else (aka. used to be an 'i-love-edward' zombie XD XD XD
but after new moon i completely fell for jacob
hard, lol

but i disagree on the dialogue
i loved it
(ps. the 'so you faint at the sight of blood?' line is my favorite XD - just the subtle use of irony is classic to me)
i didnt like the lovey dovey parts
but i did really enjoy the beginning where bella and edward flirted
charlie really IS the coolest charrie
so well written, so real
his reactions to bella are spot on

and yes, i do love the storyline/end
very good

Ammy also liked the first 12 chapters the most.

But, if this is any consolation for everyone, Stephenie really IS a funny person and she originally had way more witty jokes in Twilight and new Moon. However, these were edited out to make the book you see today.

Eclipse didn't undergo so much joke-editing, so it's going to have more dry humour than the rest.

Oh my God ... After the first 12 chapters (I've finished the book now), I lost all my respect for Bella. Her constant whinging for Edward to be near her just drove me crazy. From an independant person she turned into a complete sad-case and as for Edward and his obsession in keeping Bella safe ... I mean, just STOP Edward! Mad He's so boring, I hate the way he speaks perfect english .. there is NOTHING attractive about that. Bella had a complete personality-change after the first 12, and I almost screamed from horror and ran into incoming traffic when Edward start kissing her throat and breathing her chest, pressing his lips against her chest. EW! I mean, we have LAWS against these kinds of things; violence against women, AUSTRALIA SAYS NO. Ew, Edward is such a pervert it makes me sick. I liked Alice, I liked Victoria, Emmet was okay. I hated Bella. I hated Edward. I liked Angela. I liked Jessica. I liked Rennee ... Yeah. Charlies wonderful too, and Jacob. Just hated Bella and Edward SO much.

*feels a strong onslaught of deja vu*

I really don't know how to explain this to you. Edward is not a pervert. If you have a problem with two people who are in love KISSING, then please go borrow the Rainbow Fairy books and never enter the YA section of a bookstore again. Edward pressed his lips against her throat. And her lips. I don't find anything perverted about that, considering they're TOGETHER.

And, ya know, Edward might just speak perfect English because he was born in a time where that kind of language was NORMAL. he was born in 1901, Izzy. Please tell me you know that there's cultural differences between then and now.

And how exactly was Edward violent towards Bella? o_O Please, please, PLEASE get your facts straight.

I can deal with people not liking Twilight and the characters in it, because we all like different things. But just blatantly saying wrong things like this isn't acceptable. When people start calling Edward a pervert, it really gets to me, as you may have noticed. Edward is a gentleman. He's not a pervert, for god's sake. If you've forgotten, we had this discussion once before. On another thread. And I thought I'd made it pretty clear that Edward isn't a pervert.

He pressed his mouth against her chest, the DAY they got together. Sorry if I annoyed you, I just didn't like him for day one. Perfection isn't beauty. And for me, Edward is nowhere near attractive.

I'm not trying to make you like him. I just hate the fact that you called him a pervert. Can you tell me where that came from?

He pressed his ear to her chest to hear her heart. I haven't read the book in a long time but I still remember that. Edward does lips with her face and neck. Nowhere else. Which makes him quite unlike a PERVERT, doesn't it?

He ALWAYS looks up her skimpy dress. He ALWAYS convinces her to strip for him. He ALWAYS uses his good looks and charm to make her submit to him. He ALWAYS lures her onto the piano where he then proceeds to rape her.

Izzy. He doesn't use his abilities or vampiristic talents in a bad way. if he did, what I mentioned above would be happening.

And where does he have his hands on her? So if a boyfriend touches his girlfriend it's considered perving on her, is it? he only ever seduces her for the tiny things that never involve any kind of harrassment. He might break on her neck, but I doubt it's some attempt to look down her shirt.

Again, PLEASE try to understand the book and the characters before you come on here and say things like that. Edward isn't a perv. Period. We shouldn't even be having this discussion in the first place.

Um, he is always touching her neck. Confused THAT'S what the problem is. And he may not be a pervert, but he sure sucks at being a boyfriend.

What is WRONG with touching her neck? Next you're going to say that Edward unknowingly using his vampire talents into making Bella agree to small things is disgusting.

Oh, wait. You already DID.

I don't know what that entire episode about him being a pervert was and frankly, I'm tired of doing this over and over. Arguing isn't fun, contrary to what you seem to believe.

Edward doesn't suck at being a boyfriend. He has his flaws (yes, I said FLAWS. Guess he's not so perfect after all.). He's always putting himself down, and this causes him to make some bad decisions. But he always comes back for Bella. People who suck at being boyfriends are nothing like Edward.

I'm tired. I need a big break from SA. This has really pissed me off.

Shocked It's more the fact that you're making these assumptions and judgements that are completely wrong. I thought that even you'd have figured that out by now.

Lay out your opinions about Edward. I don't care. Just don't call him a pervert or anything that is wrong. Because you know it and I know it. I just don't know why you refuse to accept it.
