While I didn't like Twilight, I saw the potential in Meyer's writing, and the summary to this sounds good, so I might check it out from the library when it comes out.

I think this sounds like a pretty cool book. The idea is interesting, and I can imagine that Stephenie made it quite unique. I'm hoping that she can continue her ability to create strong and nearly alive characters, particularly when two of them are inhabiting the same body. That will make things interesting. She really likes dealing with duality (at least it always appears that way to me) so this will be interesting.

I got lucky, and received one of the advance copies from a family friend. I wont give anything away, but it was, how can i describe it.
honestly it was AMAZING, the plot was good, the main character(s) were interesting to say the least, just read it when it comes out or if you get an advance but it was good.

If you're in Australia, The Host is already out! It was released on April 2, actually. I must get it!!!

And if you're in the UK, Ireland, Indonesia, Philippines or Hong Kong. But nobody is. So AUSTRALIA!

So, I recently went book shopping -- on the day this book was released, no less. And...eek. That eye was EVERYWHERE.

Seriously. You walk into Borders -- bam! -- a stack of The Host right in your face. Go to the left -- bam! -- SM books. Go to the right -- bam! -- SM books.

Basically, there was barely an aisle you walked into without having something about The Host, Twilight, or Stephenie Meyer in general shoved into your vision. It was crazy. I was tempted to buy the book because it was on sale and the first few pages seemed interesting, but the first few pages of Twilight also seemed interesting to me, and you guys know how I ended up feeling about that book, heh. If I ever get through all the other books I bought instead, I'll probably check this out from the library. I think I'd like it, but hey, even on sale, that book is pricey.

Has anyone had the chance to read this book?

I got it over a month ago and I do have to admit that at first it was very hard to get into. I found that the beginning was rather complicated and wasn't enjoyable at all. But as I never give up on a book I read on...

It book didn't begin to interest me until about halfway though and I don't know if that's a good thing considering it's a 600+ page book.

I am not done yet but I do have to say that Stephanie should stick with romance.. and not try to mix it with a complicated story line..

maybe that is a little too harsh..

.. Wait.. I thought it was romance? Well, romance related anyway.

Hmmmm... I don't think I really want to read this. Her fanbase is big enough anyway. And from other reviews I've heard off people, I don't think its that great. You, Suz, pushed me over the edge. I'll give it a miss, I think.

I wanted to buy it, but I got bored by the first chapter. I'm not really interested in reading 600 pages of mind-numbing description and mediocre plotting.

Well it is a romance.. but not until just over page 350 or so and its not a normal romance.. Its a very confusing love triangle.. or two triangles..

its hard to explain.

Once you get past all the technical boring stuff it does become interesting.. and wow.. when she describes kisses it isn't a young adult book lol.

Really? What happens - does The Host and Melanie fall in love with the same person? That would actually be rather interesting, internal conflict, etc.

As far as I gather, the... Soul? Umm, I haven't read this book. I'm going by some vague memory of a description of it.

Anyway, the thing that enters the host falls in love with the host's boyfriend. So there's a really weird love triangle forming there.

Yes that part happens.. there is that love triangle but well I don't want to ruin it but later on in the book you should add another person into the crazy lovn' mix

It's Kind've like a 3 people love square... Or a 4 people love triangle... Or closer to the beggining it's made of only 2 or 3 people but still with all the triangularness [<-14 letters, by the way]
