Heather! I loved this one!

I mean this in a completely inoffensive way, but Within the Shadows was much much better than Twilight's Edge. There is a difference in your writing and the tension was spectacular!

I like that I was right about some things (Charlotte) and totally in the dark about others.

I didn't want it to be Spencer!!! My mind was telling me that it would be but I was like no no no...but of course, it made it so much better when I was wrong then.

I'm really excited for the next one!!!!

To everyone else this is going to sound weirdly cryptic, but I didn't want to spoil anything for anyone else.

p.s. Poland is sweet, gotta go!!!! I miss SA...

You said Spencer doesn't die? Or maybe you said he does...

Yeah, these books sound really good, Twilight's Edge got a 4/5 from TeenReads. I haven't seen any copies on the shelves in Australia yet, though.

You haven't seen any on the shelves in Australia because the books are self-published, so I'd actually have to go to the bookstores there and ask them if they'd shelve copies, heh. (Or, you know, people can just ask bookstores to order a copy for them; I've heard that works, too.)

Ash, I love how you took a brief break from Poland to post this, haha. You don't know how happy your response makes me -- I completely trashed several (final draft) versions of this book because I was afraid it sucked. I still thought it might when I published it. Except for a few scenes I filched from the original drafts (and *cough* sucky completed versions of old book 3), that book you read? Written in a month. (Chapter 1 was the last thing written, in fact....)

I also had to go through the entire book and get rid of Every Single Dash because Lulu.com kept converting them into number symbols. My brain nearly exploded then, because my writing tends to be dash-happy.

I think all that tension you felt was just my big ball of stress forming when writing this book, haha.

Spencer is one of my favorites in the series, if not THE favorite. Feel free to speculate what that means about my brain. Razz

On a side note, people I know have nicknamed Jay "Bathroom Boy," because they've noticed how in both books he's either in or leaving one for most of his scenes. Haha, oops.

Jay....he's gotta be a keeper...

Spencer I am not so sure about....I like his attitude and I like his actions with his alter ego....

but the boy has gone and landed himself in the middle of a big ole mess of trouble.

seee, writing with your own feelings produces great things.

I really like Alyson. And when I am bored during inter-sightseeing travel I speculate about the baby. other than creating things for RT and TRPG, that is.

sorry if there are typos this keyboard is tiny.

Since this is a TE thread, I'm posting this here...

My mom and I started arguing about Within the Shadows last night. (Not in a ROAR! way; just in a I'm-right/No-I'M-right way.) She's convinced Raven found out who the Master is by the end. And I'm all, WTF? No she didn't!

Then my Mom goes, She didn't? But I KNOW she did. In one of your old drafts she did, then.

Me: No. She. Did. N't. Mad

Mom: Yes she did.

Me: NO. There is not a single draft where that happens. I'm the writer; I should know!!

Mom: I don't believe you.

Me: *digs up old drafts and old, old drafts for proof* See! She didn't! Bwahaha!

Mom: I still don't believe you.

Me: >.<

This is very amusing in retrospect. And I'm sooo glad we squabbled about this, because I found a post-it on one of the old drafts about TE3. It's a "little" detail that's been bugging me, and now I finally remember it! Ah-ha-HA!

*leaves thread before she makes even less sense or becomes spoilery*

damn. I was hoping you would get spoilery. Evil or Very Mad

the end is a little confusing in that sense. I never really thought about whether or not she figured it out...just what she was doing at the end, lol. That took most of my focus, haha.

It would make sense to me if the end scene was the one my mom was referring to, but she actually thinks she found out earlier than that and that the end just confirmed it. >.<

Hopefully, the end will make more sense at the start of the third book. It begins two weeks later, so my characters can think about things more calmly now.

That's as spoilery as I'll get. I shall not succumb to your spoiler wishes. Nope. No I won't...

It took my friends two years to properly wheedle me. All they managed to get out of me was the Master's name and a detail about the baby, heh. (I'm surprised I lasted that long. They asked me questions every. Single. Day.)

But...I got writer's block for TE3, so I cartoonified the scene where I got stuck, was amused, and am no longer having blockage. Thought you might be amused by it too, Ash, so here is a non-spoilery spoiler that could become spoilery if you overwork your brain.

...That made no sense.

Anyway, a cartoonified snippet from chapter five, Raven's immediate reaction after not seeing him for a few weeks (I don't blame her):
