Has anyone ever checked them out?

just pulling this from wiki because I am terrible at descriptions

Quote:
Night World is a series of ten young-adult fiction novels written by Ljane Smith. The series takes place in a world similar to our own but one where vampires, witches, werewolves and shape-shifters live among humans without their knowledge. These supernatural races make up a secret society known as the Night World and are to follow very strict rules; the fundamental ones being to never let humans know about their existence and to never fall in love with one of them.

Like in most of Smith's works, the main protagonist in each volume of the Night World series is a female teenager. The novels do not follow the same characters. Instead, each novel is a separate story about different characters who live in this same world and at a time when forces known to witches as the "old powers" begin to bring some Night People to find their soulmates in humans.

The "novels" ...more like short stories are separated into three books. I picked up the second one because I was desperate to read something new (only to find out later that it was book two in a series) and found that it was ok. The stories are nothing great, but I do find them and the authors concepts of the different types of species unique and refreshing.

I really enjoyed the first three books, I haven't found anyone who has the second volume. I found them interesting, they were quick reads with fun mythology and a few interesting characters. I like the way that they do all tie together eventually, and that the characters change over the course of events. The witches are my favorite though.

I have a copy of no. 2 Very Happy.. umm check walmart lol. or well that's where I got mine.

I am I have just started the second story in book 1 umm.. *checks book* Daughters of darkness. So I've yet to read about the witches in this one but in volume two the witch story is what got me hooked on the book.

I am reading these and the house of night series at the same time so the read is going by a little bit slower than I would like. but meh.

after reading volume two I realized that I read a bunch of these books when I was in middle school and forgot about them until I was re-reading them.

Despite my feminist objections to some of the things LJ Smith does, I can't help but be totally entertained by her stories and her mythology. What I love about the Vampire Diaries getting popular is that they are reprinting all her books from the 90's in three volume sets.

Like the last two days I have been completely swept up in the Forbidden Game - another trilogy she wrote. And I was so absolutely obsessed with the villain. It's probably exacerbated by the fact that my bf is kind of non-existent at the moment because of school, but yea...Oh my God Julian. In the most epically fangirl kind of way. I'm not even borrowing it to a friend to let her read it because I want to keep him to myself.

But of course, I share him with you all, because we're the fan girl mafia Smile

I've never read any of her works. My housemate has just finished watching the.... third(?) season of Vampire Diaries. In 3 weeks. It was insane. She did Seasons 1-3 in 3 weeks!!! Anyway, she's told me a bit about what happens.. it sounds kinda cool but I'm a tad over vamps right now. And my friend now talks with a HILARIOUS american accent when she's drunk because of all the Vampire Diaries she's watched..

The books are way better than the show...the Vampire Diaries show is soooo over-dramatic and there is not enough violence (heh...) like there is in the books.

LJ Smith's other stuff is much better. I'm still obsessed with Julian and it's been...a week? haha.

I love L. J. Smith's books!

I still need to finish plowing through the Night World series, but I love what I've read of it so far. I'm in complete agreement that The Vampire Diaries books are better than the TV show. I hate how much the show changed/trashed so many awesome elements. (But at least it's better than the trainwreck that is The Secret Circle adaptation!) And The Forbidden Game trilogy...oh, easily my fave of L. J. Smith's books! I don't fangirl Julian, though; I fangirl Michael! (Why are you looking at me like I'm crazy...?)
