I loved the book
a lot of people didnt read it
i read it and the cliff's complete evaluation on it
missed a smidge of the end
so i got a 92 on the book test
but thats pretty friggin good

but yeah - i really really liked it
it had so much in it
soo many things that you miss when you only know the whored-out halloween boris karloff monster

the book is more about the morale of even doing such a thing
the modern prometheus
and i hate how the only way people know it is the flat-headed bolt-necked monster

(ps. be waiting for a painting im doing on the monster and his mate he wanted Victor to make him, it will look really neat XD)

its going to look something like this:

there are obviously three pictures i manipped together there
but the painting will be more seamless i hope, lol

i chose this because it has a background and i need to work on those
and the background works cause when Shelley wrote Frankenstein it was around the time of industry and that scared everyone to no end

and the water/oil from all of the industry that they are standing in
that will also be very hard to do
challenging is the best word for that, lol

and yeah - i totally cant wait until im done with all of it
i am only done with the chest and arms on the dood and most of the background

i will post pics when im done XD XD XD

This one requires a little explanation ^-^

The concept: In Mary Shelley's novel "Frankenstein" Victor promises the monster that he will make him a companion. He never follows through on this promise. I decided to make him one ^.^

The background: I was told from someone who was reviewing my portfolio for art college that I need to work on my backgrounds. So I worked on the background forever. I figured industrial worked for two reasons:
1- Hard to mess up on something as chaotic as that
2- In the time period that Mary Shelley wrote her novel the world was going through large changes, and industry scared them very much. In fact, it was the catalyst for Mary Shelley's novel, the idea of manmade things inspiring the main theme of her novel.

The monster: I found everything I painted in three different images. The background. The monster. And the monster's companion. The image I used for the monster himself was some odd advertisement for what I believe to be a photoshop professional or digital manipulator or something along those lines. To show this off, the image was of a skinny white guy with giant black arms sewn on with green string. I stayed true to this because it seemed like a modern reconstruction of a monster only less gruesome. Thus, it's like I have three generations in here. Pre-novel (industry/background) novel (concept and the characters) and the modernization (the way I depicted the characters).

The monster's companion: I found a girl lounging in a pool and used that, making me able to improvise on the green ledge and the muck they are standing in. Because she was a normal girl and no signs of being a monster were singled out, I had to improvise. Placing cuts and blood randomly I thought was the best (mainly because I worked so hard to get her body right and I didn't want to mess up what I otherwise wanted to showcase).

Details:
-They are standing in mucky water, like a comment on the primortal soup theory and how Shelley's novel bypassed that whole thing with a manmade creation.
-They have no faces because, well, I suck at painting faces -^.^-
-The reference for the girl was a black woman and I made her white, go me ^-^

Thanks for viewing

Meg... just ahhh. Just ahhhh.

That... is so speechless-making!!! <3 The background looks GREAT and I love what you did with Frankenstein and his "companion."

Plus, you put a lot of thought into it. So appreciated.
