I saw it openning night and again just last night! (I sported Ravenclaw outfit and everything - scarf included!!!)
I loved it!
I won't give anything away: just know that it has a great balance of light and dark, funny and serious, and the love triangles are so much fun, hehe

On another note:
I can't decide if I like Bellatrix Lestrange or Luna Lovegood more
They are the same in their oddities, but are like complete opposites as well
I think I am steering more towards liking Luna
She is like River Tam, only less morbid and creepifying
Which is not a flaw in River, I adore River!
But I think Luna has her own little lovable qualities

Alright, it's settled: I like Luna over Bellatrix, but I do love Bellatrix in her own creepy evil way ^.^

I did not like it.

I did not like that they burned down the Burrow.
I did not like what happened after the Death Eaters got into the castle.
The ending was entirely anti-climactic and took away from the hugeness of that occurence. It was emotionless.

What I did like, was that there were some random small things that they kept exactly like the book - lines and scenes and stuff, and the other movies didn't really do that. Especially keeping lines directly from the books - that really made me happy.

The part with Ron and the love potion was awesome. I laughed sooo hard.

and also, the big kiss we've all been waiting for...that was just...there should've been more! There should have been another one! That was so NOT Ginny Weasley. They played her so wrong in this movie.

This felt like a sequel movie. It felt like a middle movie. There was no point to it except to move the story along for the final movie. It should not have been like that. More significant things happened than just filler.

And now, unlike in the books, Harry has no idea what they are or how to find the Horcruxes. And they have still never introduced Charlie or Bill Weasley, and the fact that Bill and Fleur are getting married, which means there will be no wedding, and where the hell are they going to go at the point where they need to go to Shell Cottage? Then again they have never used Kreacher or Dobby again, so that just takes out HUGE chunks of good and important storylines. How are they going to rob Gringotts or know the Elder Wand is real without the time at Shell Cottage? HM?!?! There were a lot of mistakes and things left out in the other movies that could have been easily and simply repaired in this one, and they did not.

and young pre-face warping Voldemort....was not good looking enough.

I won't say there weren't many enjoyable parts and that some things on screen were fantastic (the cave...I jumped so high, even though I knew it was coming), but overall...I was unimpressed and disappointed.

Sorry for disagreeing Meg, lol. Although I agree Luna was great.

Underwhelming. Definitely gave the impression of being a filler.

The moment I walked out of the theatre, I'd all but forgotten everything that happened in the movie and I spent a good while convincing myself I'd just watched two and a half hours of content there. I honestly couldn't remember anything, just vague fuzzy details like that of some dream.

The good things: character-based scenes of everyone except Ginny. They served their purpose well enough, they were fun. The ones of Harry, Ron and Hermione were best.

The bad things: the dramatic action scenes. Dumbledore's death was shit. Anything with Bellatrix was pretty awesome, though. But that was only her. Everything else was just glazed over.

I honestly can't remember a thing from the movie except Draco's retarded briefcase. And the suit he wore everywhere, even to sleep.

haha...how do you know what he wore to bed? are you having an affair with Draco?!?!

I do have to give credit to the fact that they really made him look awful and like he was actually struggling. The moment between him and Dumbledore was good, it was after that it went completely to shit. They make you feel sorry for him, and thats what I wanted.

Alright, well you caught me there. I am having an affair with Draco Malfoy. It's his albino hair, I can't resist it.

I do know someone who has the hots for Draco, and specifically Draco, not Tom Felton. It's just... whatever, I guess.

Helena Bonham Carter steals every scene she's in. I don't know why they don't give her more screen-time, she's great as Bellatrix - she stole the show in OOTP. Loved how she danced over the tables in the scene in the great hall.

Daniel, Rupert and Emma weren't too bad either. I was expecting some more crap from them like in the previous film, but they were good. That being said, this is the first film in which Daniel Radcliffe doesn't look good in. That stubble only emphasies how short he is and makes him look like a short man rather than a maturing adolescent.

Dumbledore's death was a joke with that slow-motion scene of him falling down. I mean, they already ruined Sirius's death with that stupid slow-mo scene and Daniel Radcliffe's hilariously horrified expression, so why did they do it again with Dumbledore?

And the whole thing with the Half-Blood Prince, they barely covered! When Ginny tells Harry he needs to get rid of it, I had no idea why as they barely elaborated on any of it! When Snape said, "yes Harry, I am the Half-Blood Prince" it felt anti-climatic and over-dramatic.

Evanna Lynch is good but I don't know why she has such a massive fanbase when she had less than two minutes of screentime.

The special effects were AWESOME.

I think a lot of people follow Evanna Lynch because they like Luna in the books. If they've never read the books, they do because she's the weird character that its trendy to like. This is not true in all cases of course, but in most of them - people want to like the off-beat character because it makes them different. I think even with limited screen-time, Luna was hilarious in this one...she really pulled off that ridiculous dress. She's just an enjoyable character, and be like to be fan-mad.

And I totally agree with you about both Dumbledore's and Sirius's deaths. Grr.

Well as someone who has never read the books, let me say that the movie was really enjoyable
My friend who has read them said they had cut out a ton of it and since they are giving the next book two movies perhaps they will cut it down to what needs to be in there, I dont know
Either way, I always see the book as one story and the movie as a complete other
There isn't a chance in hell this new Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland will be anything like the book - but people will still enjoy it

As far as Luna, I am a little hesitant to call my liking of her trendy, that really makes it sound like my whole liking her is based on some kind of fashion accessory or something which is completely untrue
But whatever
I like what I like and I honestly don't care Cool

And for the death scene: yeah, it did feel a little odd with the slow mo
But the worst was Daniel Radcliffe's attempt at crying - its just something that he doesnt do well

Overall I liked it, hell I loved it - plot confusing or not it was a great movie

I didn't mean to imply you were being trendy Meg - you usually like the more offbeat characters, and Luna is kind of your type, lol.

I'm kind of in between on whether or not I liked this one - there were a lot of things I liked and a lot of things I didn't. There is so much that isn't explained at all, but I guess if you've never read the books you don't know what you're missing. Basically anyone I've talked to that hasn't read the books loved it, and anyone that has was like...uh, wtf? I'm quite curious how they are going to do the last two movies when they've left out so many simple things.

ah Daniel Radcliffe...he's far too fun to bash, lol. My biggest problem with the death scene is that it doesn't seem logical that Harry could even see it happen. It felt rushed. Seriously the build up to that moment was one of the best parts of the movie - the interactions between a broken Draco and a far too knowing Dumbledore, and the waiting for the moment Snape comes...and then the actual death was just *pft*. not cool.

I adore Luna actually, for some reason this movie made me just fall so much in love with her
I think the other movie had good moments, but I did only see it once
This one made me totally giddy and now I want to bleach my hair for Halloween so that I can be Luna one night and wear my Alice in Wonderland costume the next night
Woot and a half, lol

As far as little things, I totally understand what you mean because my friend was telling me some of the little things that were left out
In that sense the movie was like swiss cheese, and she was confused how they can bring something up in the last movie if we have no clues from the previous one
And something I wish they HAD done was maybe make Snape have that tear that she said he had at the end after D's death
The whole "I am not a coward" moment would have been nice

The confusing part for me as a non-reader of the books and the death scene was this:
1) when Snape and Dumbledor are talking before Draco even comes in, what was he asking Snape to do? what was already decided? why was Snape all "dont you think you ask too much?" it was just a weird moment and I don't understand if there was some kind of underplot to the whole killing or if it was something else entirely, im a little in the dark
2) when Snape tells Harry to be quiet under the floor and then goes up, you think he is going to help - did he do that because Dumbledore wanted it, because Snape was trying to keep him safe, or just because Snape wanted to trick him and make him think he was going to help?
Again. Confusing.

Either way I am excited for the next couple movies ^.^
And I want radish earrings, lmao

The answer to your questions is actually the same - there was an underplot that is explained in the 7th book that makes everything that happens at the end of the 6th much more intense when you already know. It's all connected, and it's all about protecting Harry basically.

Apparently the next two films are going to be very dark and violent. This new director seems to enjoy doing all his deaths in slow-motion. Hopefully he doesn't do the same with Dobby, that would be too horrifying.

THE BOWL WILL ALWAYS BE.... HALF EMPTY!

NOOOOOO not the half empty bowl!

HAHA MAN! The reason I like HBP so much is because its freaking hilarious! My goodness. Yeh, when Dumby was all "i'm gonna float off this castle tower here" I started laughing. I could not help myself! It was just utter shock laughter. I was just so angry and confused and bemused that they could go and ruin yet ANOTHER death. I mean seriously, first Sirius and now Dumbledore? The HP movies really don't know how to do emotional death scenes. Its like they are trying to put TOO much emotion into it and it ends up looking ridiculous. A favourite character just died... It already IS emotional without a freaking slow-mo fall off the tower.

Ah. So many things wrong.. My friends and I were all laughing so much. I think we pissed off the people behind us. Not on purpose though! Some things you just had to laugh at because WHATTHEFUCK?! Another example: GINNY. Why is she not hot yet? I've seen a photo of the actress and looked quite sexy, really. I mean, I know she's only 15 or whatever, but she is meant to be hot and all... AWESOME. Book!Ginny I used to be in love with. Movie!Ginny makes me want to kill things. So many things. Like bunnies. Because thats how angry I get.

The kiss was utterly ridiculous. It was just like.. ARGH! Die! Die! DIE!

Also all those scenes where Draco would 'woosh' the curtain off the cabinet. They did those dramatic scenes like... Five times at LEAST. I loved Draco though. Apart from, as has been said, the freaking briefcase and suit. Seriously. THEY ARE WIZARDS. THEY WEAR AWESOME ROBES. Or did you just not read the books?

And this is all just little stuff! I mean, why would you burn down The Burrow. WHY?! I mean, if Bella and Fenrir can just appear at The Burrow and tease Harry and nearly kill them.. Why not just have Voldemort come down and kill Harry? HE IS PROTECTED, THAT WHY! WITH MAGIC! ARGH! That irritated me so much. Also, why can everyone fly? I thought that was like a one off thing when peeps started flying the Order of the Phoenix but nope. Aparently its the thing to do. So now in Deathly Hallows when they see V. flying nobody is gonna be "WOAH! he can FLY!" (peter pan style, folks.)

Horcruxes. KIND OF IMPORTANT. Harry has no idea!! I bet they are gonna make Dumbledore leave Harry all this shit in his will.. But won't the Ministry see it? Oh, I know, lets just get rid of the Ministry. Its not THAT important.. I mean, if we don't have the two older Weasley brothers, a wedding, Shell Cottage, Horcruxes and Hallows, why would we need the Ministry?

ERGH! But, aside from all the stuff they missed (especially the funeral!!!!!!!!!) I still rather enjoyed myself. I loved Horace Slughorn.. I thought they got him down so well. Harry's little Felix-trip was freaking awesome. Loved it. Lavender is THE BOMB! And Hermione was less annoying than usual. Still very annoying, but definitely less than usual. Luna.. ahh man, she is jsut incredible. After I saw Order of the Phoenix with a few more distant friends they were like "wow Lil.. You are just like Luna!" And then they called me Luna for a while. I felt kind of... like I was blaspheming or something, but it was so awesome I didn't say anything. Hehehe

Bellatrix! Haha "i'm invading your personal space!" Man, she rocks. Helena Bonham Carter is just... ah, amazing.

Alas, there are heaps more shit I could bitch about but I think this post is long enough. All in all, funny and enjoyable, but just INCREDIBLY IRRITATING WITH STUFF THEY LEFT OUT.

I'm also praying a little bit that they decide to let Hedwig live. Stuff symbolism.

aside from agreeing with pretty much everything else you said, that has got to be the thing that made me nod vehemently.

at least...they've left out so many things, that I might not have to watch Dobby die and cry like a crazy person.

Oh no! Dobby! Haha you know what, the knife will probably just glide through him in a very, ahem, 'beautiful' way and then in slow motion he'll say "i.. love you... harry... potter.." before silently gliding off a cliff.

BRAVO!

Sorry about the terribly long post before but... alas, we all spark each other off on rants, I think.. Hehe. On a very plus note, my friend got a burnt copy of HBP from Thailand and I now own it. All very legally of course. Its not burnt at all! Ah ha ha... indeed.

The scary thing is that I can actually see that happening. Confused And then we'll get about ten minutes of Dobby falling off the cliff and Harry looking horrified.
