xD That's okay. I can accept the fact that you might not like Jacob (but I can still hope that one day it'll just hit home for you. haha)

And, yes! ALICE!
Quote:
ALICE! This may sound strange, but in New Moon, I was more anxious for Alice to come back than Edward. It's strange, right? But... I felt this absence and I realised that is was Alice I missed. Of course, I missed Edward. BUT ALICE!

So, when Alice was in Eclipse with her whole "Don't you love me, bella?" thing, I was practically squeeing.

I realise I'm quoting myself from earlier on, but ALICE! She's such a fun character.

jacob imprinted on bella.

He lied to her when he said he didnt.

The whole pack knows. Their just not saying anything because of prob asked of jacob.

[ i just finished reading it ]

he wouldnt be fighting for her as much as he is if he didnt imprint on her. Because he knows about imprinting. And honestly if he knew about imprinting and he haddnt imprinted yet then why would he be fighting for bella so much.

And the epilouge proved it even more.

i cried when he used the bible thing

i totally want that to be the truth
and it would make sense
except for the fact that:
if jacob was fighting so hard for Bella by playing dirty and kissing her left and right - then i think he would have told her that he imprinted on her just to win her over to his side
i just have to tackle this theory in my mind for a sec and maybe read Eclipse over again after Ryan is done reading it
thank god she reads so f*ing fast ^o^

for awhile i thought it was true, that jacob had imprinted on bella. but after i thought about it, my opinion changed. jacob was using every "weapon" possible to sway bella to choose him: i really think if he had imprinted on her he would have told her.

just my two cents. Wink

Agreed on that. He would have told her if he'd imprinted on her. And, pardon me if I'm wrong, I don't think Stephenie would make that happen. It would mean that Jacob's love for Bella... is a result of imprinting, and that his own decisions and heart had little to do with it.

i have the official answer!!!

this is from the "eclipse faq" section on stephenie's website. i'll post the link to the page at the end. but this is the bit i want to share:

Q. Did Jacob imprint on Bella?

A. No. And this is how you can be sure: in New Moon, after the first time Jacob becomes his wolf phase, he is mean to Bella. He won’t tell her what is wrong. He says he can’t see her anymore. If he’d imprinted on Bella in that moment (and it happens the first time you see the person after you’ve phased), he would have answered all her questions. Pretty much, he would have given her anything in the world she wanted. (When he’s staring at her on the bottom of page 173 in Eclipse, he’s trying to make himself imprint on her. But that’s not something you can force.)

http://stepheniemeyer.com/ecl_faq.html

so see? jacob didn't imprint on bella. yay! (that would make me cry, i think....)

Although Jake was a total jerk in Eclipse, it made me love him more despite his evil twisted ways. Then again, who can resist a 6'5 (or so) guy with muscles galore? Certainly not me. Other than that I kinda hated Bella for a few chapters, because of the whole "No Edward i wont marry you" thing, but I got over it.

Stephenie has just rendered all of people's arguments against Jacob and his actions obsolete. She wrote them, that makes them true, because it's her verse.

Q. What are the characters’ biggest mistakes in Eclipse, their tragic flaws?

Jacob doesn’t have a tragic flaw. He has one goal and one hope. His goal is to save Bella’s life. His hope is that he’ll win her heart in the process. He fails at both. But that doesn’t mean he regrets trying. If he could do it over again, he’d do the same thing. Jacob couldn’t live with himself if he didn’t give saving Bella his best effort—he knows it’s going to hurt when he loses, but he knows it would hurt worse if he didn’t try. Does he do everything right? Heck, no! But he’s sixteen and he’s making it up as he goes along. Those who are upset by some of his tactics should consider his youth and the fact that he is, after all, right. Bella is in love with him. (In the end, it’s truly healthier for her to be aware of this as she goes forward with unalterable decisions.)

(she talks about the other charries first, but that's the gist)

Q. What’s the deal with Bella just falling in love with Jacob in the eleventh hour of Eclipse? Don’t you believe in true love anymore? What happened to blacken your soul, woman??

A. First of all, let me say that I do believe in true love. But I also deeply believe in the complexity, variety, and downright insanity of love. A lucky person loves hundreds of people in their lives, all in different ways, family love, friendship love, romantic love, all in so many shades and depths. I don’t think you lose your ability—or right—to have true love by loving more than one person. In part, this is true because you never love two people the same way. Another part is that, if you’re lucky, you learn to love better with practice. The bottom line is that you have to choose who you are going to commit to—that’s the foundation of true love, not a lack of other options.

Next, Bella does not fall in love with Jacob in Eclipse. Bella falls in love with Jacob in New Moon. I think it’s easy to understand why this fact doesn’t occur to her. Bella has only fallen in love one time, and it was a very sudden, dramatic, sweep-you-off-your-feet, change-your-world, magical, passionate, all-consuming thing (see: Twilight). Can you blame her for not recognizing a much more subtle kind of falling-in-love?

Does this love devaluate her love for Edward? Not for me. For me, it makes that perfect true love stronger. Bella has another option. She has a really good one. An option that’s easier in many ways, that takes nothing—like her family, present or future—away from her. She would have love, and friendship, and family—an enviable human future. But she chooses Edward over all of this. This makes it real for me.

Allow me to quote from Steve Oedekerk’s brilliant Star Wars parody, Thumb Wars:

Loke Groundrunner: “I will go with you and fight!

Oobedoob Benubi: “Oh, big sacrifice; everyone you knew is dead! Glad you could tear yourself away!”

and now I'm pretty much satisfied with any disquiet I had regarding Jacob's dignity and honor, and I still think Bella and Edward should be together. Eclipses are part of nature, they happen, they are unavoidable and unstoppable. They change everything, and no matter how much you want, you can't go back to before. (okay so somehow I combined Heroes and the Twilight Series in that statement...)

I am totally on the Jacob side of the line, but he can do better.

AHHH I got Eclipse this morning - totally unexpected!!, and I went crazy!!! My sister was a little scared I think Very Happy

Anyway:

Ohh Jacob *sob* ... I was so upset at the epilogue, poor poor jacob Sad

I think Stephenie Meyer writes it so that we go through Bella's emotions with her. At least I do anyway, like when Edward left in New Moon I cried my heart out and didn't even want to continue reading the story - yet then Jacob came along and I'll admit I really really liked him in the book, but I was still so relieved and happy when Edward came back because it just felt right.
And then in Eclipse I still loved Edward but I fell in love with Jacob as well and I wanted Bella to love him too - I was so happy when they kissed in the forest!!!

And when she was broken that night she 'broke up' with Jacob, I loved that Edward was there to comfort her - he truly does just want her to be happy

I loved how it was like she was more free when she was Jacob, and not as sensible - like when he 'rescued' her on the motorbike hehe

okay so here's what I thought of Eclipse.. or what I remember thinking of it after reading it.. all of these random papers and projects and civics tests have screwed up my way of reasoning...

Basically.. I wasn't fond of Eclipse, it seemed a little repititve, I mean the whole edward vs Jacob, sort of um.. went stale on me after awhile.. I mean, It was of course amazingly written as all of Myer's books are.. but it didn't really do it for me..

I mean, the ending was horrible, and ever since MTV announced there was going to be a Twilight movie it seems as if; the way alot of authors do, Myers spiced up her plot to include more violence to fit a movie role better..
I dunno, that's just me.

I personally hated her bringing back Victoria yet again
I mean, after the first time it was ' meh'
And then the third time it was just 'UGH!'
The ending was deflated and anti-climactic for me
The part with her realizing she loved Jacob seems like more of a shocking end than the action honestly
But yeah, other than that at the mushy crap between Bella and Edward, it was all good ^.^

Yes, Victoria was extremely annoying.
And of course it was sort of predictable. The whole, vampire-werewolf teaming up thing was... um.. obvious.. anyways, I really don't want to wait another year for the next one if it's just going to be as slightly disapointing

agreed. we'll kill her.
the Victoria thing should've ended in the second book. However, if she hadn't brought Victoria back, we wouldn't have had the chance to learn about Jasper's past, and have a reason to find him slightly frightening.

yes but there was so much going on in the 2 book it would have just been a bit too much to have VIctoria killed in it to, but i personally think that eclipse is the best book in the series so far, but thats just me

I can't believe I forgot about the Victoria thing. xD Yes, it did get tiring when she was brought back. Seeing her new plan as the main action driver in the story was a little disappointing.

I finished Eclipse on my break tonight...

It made me sad.. .I sooo know how Jacob is feeling, and I am very glad that I didn't read it sooner. I think it would have made things worse for me in the end.

I really like that the epilogue was in Jacob's PoV. It was a nice but slightly painful surprise to get in his head for the first time.

So it seems the Twilight books are only JUST becoming popular in my school. Way to be late, though. hehe

This week I've seen about 6 people holding one of the three books (which is some sort of record, I'm thinking. xD) and others are only just beginning to talk about them. Well, people who I haven't already recommended the books to.

But the best part was when this group of girls were huddled around Eclipse and one of them was asking questions about it (she hadn't read them yet). She was like, "Is it like Harry Potter?"

BEST. LINE. EVER.
Seriously. I laughed my head off all the way to class.

I know! If it was possible to have playbacks of real life, I'd watch that moment over and over. The expression on her face and everything... god. It was some sort of crappy attempt to look serious and involved in the discussion.

But yeah. I need to know her name now. Shocked

Okay, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED Eclipse it was everything I'd been waiting for and more.... okay well I was actually hoping they'd have gotten married in this book but, oh well! Bella got the ring at least, which dazzled me almost as much as Edward dazzles.... almost....

But I do understand how it's been hard picking between Edward and Jacob after Eclipse because up until Eclipse, I've been like, "You like WHO better?!?!?! *smacks* EDWARD FOREVER!!!" So it usually really bugs me because to me there's no choosing, it's Edward all the way.

But after reading Eclipse, even though throughout 9/10th of the book I couldn't stand Jacob, I cried at the end when Jacob finally said, "Well I can't beat an eclipse...." after Bella told her how he's been like her sun, because I realized through all his stubbornness and annoyance, he really truly loves Bella........ but then I just tell myself, "oh he'll imprint with someone sooner or later! *hugs Edward*"

Um... no offence, but asking "is it like Harry Potter?" is not a dumb question when you haven't read the book.

1. It UNSEATED Harry Potter. Apparently. Most people would think that the two were slightly related, which they are.

2. There are were-wolves and vampires in them, same as in Harry Potter. One would think.

3. If the books are getting popular, wouldn't you sort of link in to HP? I mean, Harry Potter was really popular. And this book is popular. Any connections?

A fair question and definitely not stupid.

I agree it is a fair question, though probably not in the way the girl meant it.

Twilight is a lot like Harry Potter in the fact that it has become a worldwide fandom phenomenon, and that it is a book with loveable and extremely polarizing characters. Both books made people begin reading again.

So generally, the answer to that question is yes. It is like Harry Potter in the uber-addict sense, haha.

Okay.. so only about eight or nine months too late.. I finally read Eclipse.
Hehe. yehh..

I liked it, but I think it went for a bit too long. There was quite a bit I think Stephenie could have cut out (ie all that Edward/Bulla mushy crap.)

The fluff and mushyness annoyed me a lot. I think its just something that annoys me, when people are mushy frequently.

I still believe in Edward/Bella. The entire book just oonfirmed it, but I really felt for Jacob! I mean, just being so young and having to a) deal with the whole werewolf thing, then b) dealing with falling in love with someone, then SMACK! c) the one you're in love with wants to turn into your mortal enemy.

.. And he is sixteen! I know Bella is only a couple years older, but she is way more mature and lovely and Edward-obsessed. .. I don't know why that last one is a point, but it is. Heh.

Although I gotta admit, Jacob realllly pissed me off at points. Like when he kissed Bella. I give him points for trying, though. At least he didn't just lie back and watch her fade away. I understand that he was trying to save the one he loves and he is young and everything.. But he still pissed me off. Haha.

Bella, Edward and The Bed. Oh god, that cracked me up. Almost as much as Emmett.
Alice love. She kind of scared me near the end, though, when she told Bella she was watching her, making sure Bella wouldn't go into the clearing and fight. I stilll love her, though.
And Alice fighting made me chuckle.. Heh.

Rosalie.. That is so sad. And I love how she is honest and accepting of her vanity. She does it in a.. non-cocky way. If thats possible. She knows she is pretty and yeah, she flaunts it and expects everyone to love her, but... That isn't what her life was based around. She had substance. She just wanted to care for a baby, and have someone care for her. Her story was amazing. And I abolsutely LOVE the fact that she killed them. I know murder is bad and yada yada yada but they, especially HIM (her husband/bf whatever) DESERVED it. He was just going to do it again. Hehe, and she scared him and found him hiding in a cupboard. That alone would make a great novella.

Jasper's background made me love him even more. I just like how Stephenie has made at least ONE of the Cullens/Hales unable to fully resist blood. I know thats more New Moon material, but his story helped understand. And the part when he met Alice and it was his first sign of hope.. I know I said I didn't like mushy stuff and whatever.. But that was gorgeous. I had tears in my eyes. I love Jasper and Alice.

(ehh sorry I'm writing an essay but I haven't really discussed any of this with ANYONE yet.. so.. yeh.. i'm kind of bursting. hehe)

I really enjoyed the parts with the Cullens and them interacting with each other and their backgrounds, then all that info with the pack and their legends and histories. I found all that aspect of Eclipse more interesting than this whole fight for Bella's love.

I definately do not dislike Bella after Eclipse. I know a lot of people found her annoying and just didn't like her, but I found it had the opposite effect. Bella pissed me off in New Moon. But now, she doesn't. I mean, imagine being in her position? God, I don't know what I'd do.

Sure she didn't want to get married, but there was a reason for why she was so against it. She didn't want to let her mum and dad down. She didn't want them to think she was making the same mistake they did, that she was just another hick.. Even though (obviously) Bella and Edward's love is completely different to Charlie and Renee's, it still didn't feel right to her. But then she managed to get over that once she realised how much it did meant to Edward. Sure, at first she was selfish in not wanting to get married. But if you think about it, so was Edward in wanting to. Then, of course, in the end they both sacrificed what they wanted. As usual *insert eye roll here*

Okay. So. After that essay. Haha.. I'm a Bella/Edward shipper. I don't believe that Bella isn't 'worth' Jacob or anything. Maybe he won't find another to love like he loves Bella. I don't think it is anybodies fault. This is just what happened.. Its a sad ending for Jacob, but I don't think Bella should go back and choose him in the next book. Although that ending tore me apart. Jacob! He doesn't deserve that pain! But then, nobody does I guess. (Apart from Rosalie's stupid fiance.)

Edward was annoying in the first half of the book where he was so over protective and infuriating, but I guess it was a good wake up call to how perfect he is not. As in, he isn't perfect. Nobody is. Plus, he woke up to how possessive he was being. Naww.

Oh, also? Jacob is so freaking amazingly hot and dangerous and *drooooools*. I don't care how young he is. I want Jake! Hehe.

Okay. Sorry about that, folks. Feel free to ignore, I know you've all already stated your points. Hehe.

i supose that it doesn't really matter when you read it, just as long as you have read it
